Goodbye?!

This is a trailer for some skateboarding-related films featured in an upcoming film festival in Seattle, WA.

Check it: http://theskateboardfilmfestival.com

If this is the end, I wish everyone all the best. And, I was honored to have been a part of it.
Merci, Trent

We Love You So

In October 2009 Spike Jonze’s feature film rendition of Maurice Sendak’s classic story Where The Wild Things Are will hit movie theaters worldwide.
The film represents years of work from hundreds of different artists, writers, photographers, musicians, actors, and creators of all degrees.

This place [we love you so] has been established to help shed some light on many of the small influences that have converged to make this massive project a reality.

Excitingly, my friend Scott sent me some recent and as always, stylish footage he's gotten out in Seoul, Korea. Dig it.

Raleigh Excursion

My friend had a doctor's appointment two and a half hours away in Raleigh, so a few of us went with him to skate.
We ended up just messing around at an indoor park for a while, then upon not being able to decide on a street spot to skate, went to an under-construction concrete park.
Nothing productive, but it was a fun trip.

Cake! Intro...

vidéo perdue
Well, my video's finally finished.
Well, almost. I just have to film one more person's intro for their part, make the image for the DVD disc, and do a Scene Selection menu.
So, barring any unforeseen technical difficulties, it'll be complete within a week. I can't wait to put this thing behind me.
I suppose making some money would be also be a plus...

Pulp Fiction Scene Remake

I'm back home for the week, so I've got the internet... This is a project I did for school. It turned out better than I had imagined it would, my expectations obviously not being very high. But, I had never really done anything like that before. I'm kicking myself in the face for not burning a skateboarding montage I made to a disc and bringing it with me, but I should have the internet at my apartment in about a week anyway, if the cable guy would be kind enough to actually show up... pulp

Sorry, that happened to you, buddy.

I'll be applying for film school in a couple days. And if I'm accepted, I'll be moving to a bigger, better city and you'll have heard the last of my whining about this one.
And I'm sure you've heard enough of that, so wish me bon chance!

lame

A few shitty tricks I did today, and a couple old ones, also shitty:

some recent footage

I periodically grow extremely bored of filming, and this is one of those times. I feel the need to step it up somehow. I'm not happy with any of this stuff. I'm sure a change of scenery would be the best, but that's hardly an option. Maybe I just need to watch more skate videos. Bon Appétit is always pretty inspiring. On second thought, maybe a narrative film may be in order. It's 3. AM, but I'd better go watch Stranger Than Paradise...

A Section of My Video, 'Cake!'

First is my friend Scott's Part, which hardly reflects how good he is. His filming was cut short due to his moving away and joining the army, for reasons I don't quite understand. So I went ahead and edited his part since there's not the possibility of getting any more footage. Some of the tricks are a lot harder than they seem for how sketchy the spots are. After that is an introduction to what will someday be a montage.

Meanwhile, this town is killing me. The 'skate scene' sucks. Nobody who's supposed to be in my video gets along with one another, some are too busy feeding their drug habits to ever skate, etc. Producing a decent skateboarding video 'round these parts is not an easy task.

Jupiter and a Bottle

I just got out of the mental hospital yesterday.

It was fun at first, but the 22 days I was in there was a bit torturous. I didn't do anything to get put in there. I was wrongfully arrested. But apparently, I'm bipolar. I'm much too tired to write about the experience right now, as it's been a long day, but am certainly going to in the near future.

I made this motion graphic today, and digitized the eyeball animation (which I made sitting there bored out of my mind in the 'nuthouse')... The footage is from long ago. 'Came up with the name Glitter Films a while back for my nonexistent production company. I never planned on keeping the title "SDM Productions", which I'd been using for years. It was just a placeholder until I thought of a name. I finally thought of one, after more years than I care to even think of...

Skatepark Montage 12/17/07

Well, Christmas is coming, and kids who've moved away are straggling back to town, so hopefully some street footage will be coming my way in the next few days. For now, this rainy day skatepark montage will have to suffice.
About a month ago I bought something called a Fig Rig (the circular thing holding the camera pictured below), and this is the first time I've really gotten to test it out for filming skateboarding. So far it seems to be doing its job nicely.

(Click the picture for video.)

Skatepark Montage

I threw this park montage together real quick-like, just for a glimpse of a feeling of accomplishment. I usually find park footage to be pretty dull, but maybe it'll somewhat entertain somebody. Please disregard the bad filming, park footage seems so useless to me that I don't put much effort into it. This stuff is back from August 24th. Featuring Brad Stafford (on the left) and Scott Edgerton (to the right), who used to be good friends until they made the mistake of getting an apartment together. That quickly came to an end, and Scott moved away and joined the army. He was the best about trying tricks and getting footage around here. Leaving two people left in this town who I really skate with, maybe once every couple weeks if I'm lucky. Street skating and trying to get any footage just isn't even worth the effort these days. Everyone who I used to skate with has long since moved away, luckily for them. Hopefully I don't stay in this pit of depression called Hickory, North Carolina for the remainder of my life. Please excuse my whiny, rambling incoherence.

First Trick Filmed in a While

This is the first thing I've really gotten on video since the last time I posted anything in September.
I just threw this together real quick-like. I need to work on some projects for school I've been putting off. I just got back from New York City a couple days ago, which was very nice, a much-needed break from this area.

jeudi 20 septembre 2007

The 19th of September...

Finally a day where something was accomplished...

As opposed to the average day spent burning gasoline and racking our brains trying to figure out a place to go.
Well, this day was the same, but we actually figured something out eventually.
It's getting to be Autumn, and I think the lack of constant miserable heat is going to pick things up over here in the wonderful old town of Hickory, North Carolina.
